One thing off my bucket list

Hello again, Hawks! This past week I heard some devastating news: the Chili Cook-off was postponed for April 18. All orientation leaders will be on a retreat, which means we won’t be able to join the fun. Sad day, USA; the show must go on without us. Even though we had most of our things planned out, we decided to use them next year. It’s not like we won’t be having fun at the retreat. Orientation leaders are going to have a blast. We’ll be doing some activities such as team builders and training all the way to capture the flag. I have never been camping in my life, so I will finally be able to check it off my bucket list. One of the things I’m most excited about for the retreat is making s’mores. Yum! S’mores made in the microwave are legit, but I want the real stuff. I’m already counting down the days. I’m not fond of mosquitoes, so let’s hope there are none or else we’re going to have a problem.

ericAnyone else pumped for be student banquet? I know I am. I’m like a girl during prom season trying to figure out what to wear. I don’t want to go too formal, but I also do not want to go underdressed. I mean if it’s being held at NASA I’m pretty sure it’s a formal event. I’m going to play it safe and go formal but not too formal. I don’t want to dress like I’m going to prom either. This banquet sounds like it’s the Grammy’s but for student leaders.

The month of April is packed with fun-filled events. It is literally like speed racer on a racetrack. The more stuff there is the faster the month goes. As soon as the race is over, we just have one more week left and that’s for finals. I am really pumped to almost have the chance to be a sophomore. When someone asks me in the hall, ” Hey are you a freshman?” I will reply by saying ” Freshman? *Phft sound* no I’m a *takes off sunglasses* sophomore.”

I am hoping that next year the campus will be more interactive. I know we are taking baby steps, but I want to get to the point where we have students studying in the grass or playing Frisbee during breaks. Seeing a lot of people leave school after they’re done with classes is just so sad.

Well that’s it, Hawks. Have a great week!

-Eric
